The inspiration to build the Legacy Sled “Edition One” came from my restoring an old children’s tow sled that was purchased by a friend of mine when we were yard sale shopping in Titusville, NJ in 2011.

I kept the spirit of that old original sled alive in our reproduction and added elements of quality that make our sled a legacy piece, to be handed down from generation to generation.

Each sled is individually hand crafted in the Teracottage atelier.  The sled is a work that is rich in craftsmanship and warm in appearance.  Sturdily built to be used as a working tow sled or you may wish to display it in the home as a holiday decoration that will surely make a festive statement.

Elements of the Piece

Materials
The sled is constructed from hand selected premium grade Red Oak and hard Maple woods.
All wood parts are connected with brass screws.
A steel strut supports the curve of the wooden sled ski and a sisal pull rope is attached for towing.

Personalization
Each sled is personalized for the customer with a name, date and/or inscription.  The lettering is scribed in faux gold leaf, styled to match the vintage feel of the sled.

Finishes
All wood finishes are hand rubbed.
Sled body and back rail posts are stained Chestnut Brown.
Sled skis and back support rail are stained Ebony Black.
The steel ski strut is painted a glossy Cherry Red.
All wood parts are protected with two coats of clear protective finish.

Limited Production
This sled will have a limited production run of 200 pieces.
Each sled is numbered, signed by the carpenter and comes with a story booklet that tells of the history and inspiration that lives in the piece.
