When I began to develop our concepts for unique, artisan garden sheds, I realized the importance to interesting building materials. I was searching for unique roof tiles and found a dealer who offered reclaimed and authentic production European roof tiles. In one of our conversations, the discussion of French clay tiles came up and the beautiful use of them in the manor homes in Normandy. Intrigued by this conversation, I began to research the region and the homes there. The estates of Coupesarte and La Chenovotte are two that captured my interest. La Chenovotte for its roof line, and tall French doors and windows, and Coupesarte for it’s painted beam ceilings and other interior details. My inspiration for our Country French Garden Shed – Edition One was drawn from those two remarkable estates.
